Cless's childhood friend. Orphaned when he was very young, he has been
living with his younger sister since then.
So I've just given you the usual, the stuff translated from the "The Dream
Will Not Die" single. There's some more about him having a quiet
disposition and being a dependable older brother (at least, I think that's
what it says...I can't actually read it), but it's too hard for someone
who's only had two semester's worth of Japanese a few months ago and hasn't
practiced since to translate it comfortably. I don't really think that
"quiet disposition" is all that accurate, but I've only seen him interact
with Cless and his friends, so I guess his "quiet disposition" is only for
others. He definitely seems like a great older brother, though!
I mean, he did bring back that apple for Amy and he was so devastated when
she died.
Wow, the character profiles of Tales of Phantasia seem so...bare^^;
Let's spruce it up by adding what we think would fit! I'm going to
start with blood type. In fact, that's the only aspect I've done so
far...I plan to do astrology, too, but not right now cuz it seems harder^^;;
Looking at a few pages regarding blood types to see what the general
personality of each kind would be, I've concluded that he's a B.
Let's take a look at the common traits of each blood type.
Type O: The "Usagi type" (if you don't know who I'm talking
about, then you've been spending a bit too much time being a hermit).
Likeable, friendly, carefree, indecisive, clumsy...Likeable he is, but
probably only to the observers of the story cuz that's the way to see his
real feelings. Friendly he isn't...just look at the way he treats
Arche! Although that was cuz she insulted him first, but it's not like
he tried to appease her afterwards or anything^^ Carefree...all right,
I'll give him that cuz he does joke around a lot. I don't think anyone
in the game is truly carefree, though, cuz they do have an end of the
world situation on their hands. Indecisive he definitely isn't.
Just look at the way he dives in to stop Daos from attacking Morrison while
he was casting that spell in the collapsing cave! As for clumsy, there
was never an instance in this game that he displayed that (although Cless
dropped that ruby thingy numerous times^^).
Type A: The "typical hero" type, like Sakura Kinomoto.
They follow the rules, they plan ahead, they're loyal and honest.
Chester already seems to display his rebel type when he refuses to leave
with Cless, but wants to stay and mourn the villagers a bit longer, despite
the great danger. The way Chester acts, he seems to be more impulsive
than the "plan ahead" type, even though I can't think of any instances at
the moment where he actually displays this. The archer isn't exactly
the lying and deceitful type, but he does hide his feelings (wouldn't even
tell Arche how he felt until Cless prodded him!), so that doesn't really
make him "honest". Loyalty is something that all good guys display (in
general, not just in this game), so that's not really an outstanding
attribute^^
Type B: Ah, who could I use as an example here (other than
Chester)...I'm sure I'll
think of someone later. Anyway, these kinds of people are extroverts,
free-thinkers, rebellious, outgoing, and above average. They give off
a cheery appearance, but are suspected to be "lonesome at heart". The
way Chester seems to make friends with the rest of Cless's gang after they
meet up again shows that he's not introverted, so he's probably
extroverted^^ He's certainly outgoing, with the way he refused to give
up on going after boar in that first forest scene. I think it's
already been established above that he's a free-thinker and rebellious^^
As for being above average, I'd like to believe that everyone in the world
has a quality that they excel in better than everyone else^^ His
cheery personality is accentuated by those mischievous fox eyes in his game
form. I never would have thought him the "lonely at heart" type until
that "quiet disposition" thing, but I guess he really is that. He
hasn't got any family (other than Amy and...well...you know) and the only
person he seemed to be close to in the beginning was Cless.
Type AB: Again, I'm at a loss for an example, but I'm sure I
can come up with one later after doing a little digging. AB people are
fickle (probably the A and the B in them arguing with each other), creative,
and analytical. Sometimes, they are friendly and sometimes they want
to be left alone. Chester doesn't seem to analyze things too much;
just takes things as they come. He seems very determined about the
things he does, so he's not fickle. There aren't really any chances
for the characters to show their creativity in the game (what, they're gonna
stop and draw a picture or tell a story or something?), so who knows about
that. Being friendly and wanting to be left alone at times is
something everyone in the whole world displays, I believe. |
